Etymology of government and cybernetics

The verb govern comes from the Latin gubernare, which derives from the Greek verb kyberno (κυβερνώ), to direct, rule, guide, to steer.

From the same root: government, governance, governor,cybernetics.

In modern Greek
a) κυβερνώ:
to direct, rule, guide, to steer [kyberno ]
b) κυβέρνηση :
government [kybernisi]
c) κυβερνητικός :
of the government [kybernitikos]
d) κυβερνήτης :
governor, leader [kybernitis]
e) κουβερνάντα : gouvernante [kubernanta]

Το ρήμα govern (κυβερνώ) προέρχεται από το Λατινικό gubernare, το οποίο με τη σειρά του προέρχεται από το ελληνικό ρήμα κυβερνώ.
