Etymology of fraud

Fraud comes from the Latin fraus-fraudis, which derives from the Greek φραδής (fradis; clever, smart, crafty).

 

 

Το fraud (απάτη, δόλος απατεώνας) προέρχεται από το Λατινικό fraus-fraudis, το οποίο με τη σειρά του προέρχεται από το αρχαίο ελληνικό φραδής (συνετός, έξυπνος, έμπειρος).

 

φραδής (fradis) –> fraudis — > fraud
